Ah...... finally some new pictures of Clyde.. What can I say, he has spent the last two years in a "growth stage" and just was not very photogenic. But Hey!! Look at him NOW!!  Clyde is growing into himself finally and is looking fantastic. He stands 15.1 hands at the withers and 15.2 hands at the hip. I fully expect him to continue on growing for a while yet to finish up at 15.2 or better. He has outstanding hooves and legs and has incredible bone. But don't worry, he isn't a clunky horse by any means.

Temperament wise, Clyde is incredible.. He is the first at the gate for pets and loving and will leave only when he is good and sure that the humans will not be back for "seconds".. LOL. We have started his "hunting training" with him and he is getting pretty good at just standing there while guns are fired off right next to him.  The plan is to turn him into Jim's "Cadillac of a hunting  horse" next year when he turns 3 ,   He used to be Anne's project foal, but she sort of lost interest in having a baby and waiting for him to grow up so she gave him back to me. Her loss, Jim's gain.. :-)

Clyde has been on and off the sales page over the last few months, but just a few days ago, Jim took  his .357 Magnum handgun out to the boys' field and fired it off about 3 feet away from Clyde. For those that are not familiar with that type of gun, it is LOUD!!!! Your ears will be ringing for a good 10 minutes. Anyway, when the gun went off, Clyde took one step backward before coming back up for the rest of his apple. That clinched it, Clyde stays to be a huntin' horse. I have no doubt that he will excel in that role. He's just unflappable. (update July 2007 ~ right now Clyde is on the sales page, but he may well come off if hunting season gets close and we decide to turn him into a pack horse for the season.. lol.. get him quick!)

(left over from when he was a little guy!! cute wasn't he?)

Clyde was born at 9:30 pm on March 11, 2004.. With me and both kids in attendence, he was welcomed with much squealing (from the kids) and relief from me (Mae was more then a week or so overdue, and I was tired of doing foal watch.)

This colt is (was) to be Anne's "keeper foal". One for her to raise up on her own, do the training on and keep forever.. When we saw that he was a colt, I think she let out a sigh of relief, knowing that I would never have the chance to "breed this one out from under her".. lol.. Compulsive Breeding Disorder.. I have it bad..

Anyway, Clyde is wonderfully friendly. He was slow to figure out nursing, and in the 6 hrs (yes, folks I did say 6 hours) it took him to figure it out, he and I became quite attached to each other.. He would leave his mom and come over to me with a nicker when ever I would enter the stall. Very sweet.. He still is fearless about people and loves to be pet and scratched.. If the kids go out when he is sleeping, he just lays quietly while they put his head in their lap.. Yesterday, Daniel steped right over him while he was resting.. lol, Clyde didn't even raise his head.. (thank goodness, or Daniel would have been riding him!)

Ummm, about his name.. Since he is Anne's, Anne got to name him.. Why Clyde? I haven't a clue but Clyde it is..

Stay tuned for more pictures and updates on his journey with Anne.
