*LTF Little Diamond
SOLD!!
We miss him LOTS!!

Gideon was one of my first two Curlies. I bought him as a
young 3 yr old stallion. He had just been put under saddle and was one of two
stallions listed for sale on the internet that really caught my eye.. When
Gideon arrived in June, to say that I was enchanted with him was an
understatement.. This boy carries wave in his coat all summer long and has a
wonderful, big curly mane and tail. And I did I mention that he is very smart
and knows how to bow? LOL. He is (smart) and does (bow).
And as a bonus when you
ride him , you get a perfect view of his super cute
ears peaking out of his bushy mane.. Folks always ask why I took a picture of
his ears and why I put it on my website, but I figure, hey. this is what you are
gonna see every time you ride. And it sure doesn't hurt that it is an attractive
view. The lady I bought Gideon from told me that Curlies will ALWAYS make you
smile. She was right, they do and I am always grinning when riding this boy and
looking at those cute little ears of his!
This
was the face that greeted me daily when I arrived at the barn.. Again, how can
you not smile at them!!
As my breeding goals
shifted towards a taller type of Curly, I decided to have Gideon gelded so that
he could concentrate on a career as a riding horse.. My trainer had told me that
in his opinion the horse had real talent, and would make a fabulous Pony Club
mount for a talented kid.. I agreed, but it seemed that finding the right kid
might be a challenging task at best.. Gideon is great in terms of "Curly
disposition" in that he loves humans, is easy to be around, and easy to
train. But he is not exactly what I would call "mellow to ride".. I
always called him my "sports car Curly".. He is sensitive to all the
aids and tireless in his level of energy and willingness to use it.. I
did make an effort to sell him on to a new home (hey, this IS a breeding farm
and well, geldings don't add much to that endeavor). After some months of no
success in finding the right home, I decided to follow my heart and keep him.
Gideon was always a fabulously fun horse for me to ride, and actually did come
in useful for ponying out the youngsters, especially the colts. So off the
sales page he came and I pulled all my internet ads.. Or so I thought.
A few weeks after our
first trip to the regional equine expo I got an email from a 9 yr old girl that
had found my last forgotten internet ad and wanted to know if Gideon was still
available.. I told them I had really decided to keep him, but if it was the
perfect situation I would let him go. They came out for a look-see the next
weekend. Eleni's mom told me that Eleni had been scouring the internet looking
for a suitable Pony Club mount that might work for her and had come up with
Gideon's ad. I
was a tad bit skeptical as this was a slightly built 9 yr old. But she knew
her way around horses and had a good way of handling him. So we went to the ring
for a trial ride. I knew as soon as she got on him that it was "a match
made in heaven". Gideon had never gone as nicely for me as he did for her.
Thus the deal was struck. Gideon would go with them on a long term lease. They
could send him back anytime they wanted. They kept Gideon for 2 years before I
felt the need to call him home. I know they had a great time with each other and
both learned alot from the experience. Gideon is currently being used by a Pony
Clubber from our own group while we work on finding him a permanent home of his
own with his own special person to love just him! We have taken Gideon to camp
this summer and he participated in the Curly Sporthorse International Sporthorse
inspection at the end of July. Gideon was awarded Premium status and WOW'ed us
all (judge included) with his jumping ability. Gideon successfully free jumped a
4 foot oxer. I was amazed that he would have the guts to even try such a big
jump, but try it he did.. and successfully too!
