Started Under Saddle

Sid is just one of those "nice guy" kinda horses. He is always so friendly and happy to see you. He gets along "siouxperbly" well in a group (sorry, couldn't resist the "sioux" word). For the last two winters he has gone  to spend the rainy months at a friend's house. They just loved him, and he loved them back (of course).

He may not be curly haired, but he is most definitely hypo-allergenic. I have had  him "sniff" tested by a number of allergy sufferers and have yet to have him cause a reaction. Sid has one of the coolest winter coats I have ever seen on a straight haired horse. His hair is super soft and seems to stick straight up from his body.. When he walks the hair vibrates and because of his  unique coloring he seems to glimmer and glow as he moves.. I love to watch him move around in the winter time. And love to sink my hands into his coat in the cold weather.

I think this gelding is going to be of good size.. he is a fully year younger then Ray Charles and already taller then him, standing at 15+ hands at 2 yrs of age..  Sid's disposition is also very "curly". He went into a tiny two horse trailer on the first try (never been loaded before) and then stood there quietly while we worked to load the other youngster, who wasn't anywhere near as willing to load.. When we took the pictures for this page, we were using a kid dressed up in a black tarp to encourage them to move around. Sid would move off if we insisted but would always come back around to run up to the "monster" and play with him.. loves to pull those tarps off of the kid.. Well, ya never know. there MIGHT be an apple under there!! LOL.

Update:  Sid has been lightly started under saddle (Dec. 2004). It took about 15 minutes from the time he first saw a saddle to me getting on him.. WOW.. If that isn't a "Curly" disposition I don't know what is!!

This is what Sid thinks of life as a working horse!! lol..  All of these pictures  were taken on  his 6th ride "under saddle". WOW.. What a nice boy..
